Through a Caffeine Haze

As you sip your coffee and look across the dimly lit room with music playing gently in the background, you wonder what people are talking about, what stories are unfolding before your eyes but just out of ear shot as they drink their own lattes and mochas. Now you have a chance to find out. In these evenings of intimate live performances, Theatre Unleashed will bring you original theatrical shows that will make your caffeine addled brains percolate with excitement and ideas. Traveling to various coffee houses throughout the Los Angeles area, Theatre Unleashed will unveil two distinctly different live shows featuring hilarious, thought-provoking and experimental pieces that all take place…in your local coffee shop.

2 Free Las Vegas Tickets... to Star Trek Experience

We have two unused tickets for Star Trek The Experience Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion.

The tickets would be good for a year, but the attraction is closing forever, September 1st. If you can get to Vegas and want our tickets, let me know. It's a must-see for Trekkies and we had a great time... a shame to see these go to waste.

Let me know if you can go.

Free Admission for Kids --and Their Adult -- at LACMA

Billed as "the nation's only free youth membership program," Arts for NexGen LACMA offers admission, gratis, to permanent galleries and selected special exhibits for members 17 and under. Members get to (have to?) bring along an adult, also at no charge.

For free enrollment, go to http://www.lacma.org/programs/NexGenKids.aspx , print out and mail in the enrollment form (right hand column). You can also enroll at the museum box office, though I don't know if memberships are activated on the spot for same-day admission.

The NexGen program has lots more to offer, including camps, classes, artwalks, audio tours and the Boone Children's Gallery.

Weekend salsa?

A friend and I who share Sunday as our bday are trying to find some kind of club that has salsa dancing on Saturday nights to go with our friends this weekend.  Unfortunately, the only places we know of only have salsa on weekdays.  Anyone have any recommendations?  We're grad students, so places like Club Mayan are out of our price range.  Also, many of our group of friends have no idea how to salsa (including myself--this is really my Venezuelan friend's idea), so it would be good if they have some kind of free lessons first.  Of course, I will probably quickly become too drunk for my lack of salsa skills to matter much.

Wedding Venues?

Does anyone have any suggestions for nice wedding reception venues in LA? We're planning on a small private ceremony and a BIG reception. But since we're planning on have a second reception on the East coast two weeks later, we're hoping to find someplace that isn't too expensive.

Rideshare: LA to SF roundtrip 03/14 - 03/16

I'm heading up to Berkeley tonight - I'm looking to leave around 5pm.

If we take my car - I have two spots open. We all split the gas evenly. Unless you are right off the 5 fwy, you meet me at my place (Eagle Rock area). You are not skeevy, please.

If you offer me a ride - I don't want to leave past six, please. I'm off the 5 fwy and would love to be picked up but if you can provide safe parking in your area, I'll meet you there! And I'm totally down to split the cost of gas.

About me - I'm 25, female, comfortable with silence, and listen to a lot of Britpop, indie, & oldies. I have a 2007 Corolla that gets great gas mileage.

My two rideshares bailed on me about twenty minutes ago so help me out here!

Also, if you know of any rideshare resources other than craigslist, please let me know! Thanks!
